A total of 23 high school baseball players from Oklahoma participated in the third annual Native American All-Star Baseball Showcase at Truist Park in Atlanta last weekend. The event, featuring the top 50 high school players of Native American descendent, was held at the home of the Atlanta Braves.

A total of 23 tribal affiliations from 16 states were represented from around North America, including North Carolina, California, Oklahoma, Idaho, and Canada.

On Saturday, the players participated in a pro-style workout with the Marquis Grissom Baseball Association, home run derby, and panel discussion with scouts, college coaches, and Braves alum Collin McHugh. The showcase game was held on Sunday afternoon, with the 50 players divided into two teams, coached by former Major League Baseball players Terry Pendleton, Johnny Estrada, Pete Smith, Terry Harper and Jerome Walton. Part of the Braves’ efforts to create opportunities for access and exposure for diverse talent, the Native American All-Star Baseball Showcase was attended by professional and college scouts.

Braves Senior Director for Alumni Relations & Growing the Game Greg McMichael said that the Braves are honored to support an event that creates opportunities for deserving baseball players.

“The third annual Native American All-Star Baseball Showcase this weekend was a monumental success. We established this event in 2022 alongside our Native American community and partners to shine a light on the immense talent of Native American high school players from across North America,” said McMichael.

“We were honored to host players representing 23 different tribes, who were able to meet Braves executives, learn from Major League Baseball alumni, and show off their skills in front of college and professional scouts. Our hope is that this event helps open the door for some of these players to take their baseball careers to the next level.”
