The Kendra Scott Women’s Coach of the Month award has seen its final two recipients of 2024. Madison Kelly and Valerie Bryant are the respective winners for November and December for their dedication to their players on and off the court.

The award highlights one coach every month who is making a difference in her school, organization and community. The award is offered to coaches at the middle school, high school and travel ball level, regardless of what sport they coach.

Coach Kelly became the winner for November’s Coach of the Month. Kelly is the Head Coach of the Capitol Hill High School Women’s Basketball Team.

The Rookie League showed up to Capitol Hill in mid-November to surprise Kelly and announce her as the coach of the month. Kelly received balloons and was told of her winning in front of her players and staff as they prepared for a scrimmage later that day.

Upon arriving at the school, Coach Kelly was called up to the office where she was met with Rookie League staff and received flowers and balloons as a part of her reward. Kelly to meet up with the rest of her team to tell them of the honor their coach had won and get together for group photos.

Coach Bryant was named Women’s Coach of the month in December. Bryant was surrounded by her players, fellow coaches and athletic coordinator as she received the award for her work as the Southeast high school volleyball coach.

The Rookie League arrived at Southeast high school and were greeted by players of the volleyball team, Athletics staff and Coach Bryant herself. While it was Bryant’s first-time winning coach of the month, she was familiar with the honor after her assistant coach, Arlette Melendez, won the award in 2023.

Bryant received her flowers as a speech was given by Southeast athletic coordinator, Curtis Thompson. Thompson spoke about his history coaching with Bryant when she was his assistant coach and the importance she had at Southeast.

“It was truly a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with (Coach Bryant) especially on Athletics.”
